Chinese History

My girls are learning about Chinese history through Beautiful Feet Books “Around the World with Picture Books” today we invited friends to learn with us, for today’s lesson. It is amazing how well they are with paying attention while there are other kids involved.

We read “The Story of Ping” located the Yangtze River  in “MAPS” book, and watched some YouTube videos on coromant fishing. Afterwards they all drew some pictures on what they learned.

All four children were able to sit and listen to the story! When I was done reading they all answered questions about the book for comprehension!
I love this book! It has a lot of pictures and is easy to find what we are looking for.
Coromant fishing! The kids did not find this entertaining but they sat through it and paid attention!

As the day went on we wrote in our journals. When journals were complete we put together lunch and did our addition facts at the same time. By the time school was done it was around 1:30 in the afternoon. So we went swimming for a while to wear off some energy.

After swimming we had a little excitement. One of our friends here in Mississippi got cart to go on her sons hooverboard so all the kids went to take turns on it. It is amazing how fast those things can go. One kid just about hit a car with it another cam very close to crashing into a tree. Alot of the little people kept trying to use their feet as breaks.

Then we had a scary moment when a dog got nervous while the hooverboard was in use and another was trying to pet the dog it growled and lunged at the same time and just about bit her face. I was so glad that the owner of the dog had a hold of it and the little girl did not get bit.

I on the other hand had some major panic going on caused by dog bites in my past. I honestly thought I came to terms with it but once I witnessed a dog lunge at her I just about passed out. My heart stopped, then started racing, and I forgot to breath for a moment.

My melt lasted around 2 hours. I was so happy I had to get dinner made for the kids because man it had me so scared.
