Sunday was Funday!

We made steel cut oats this morning for breakfast in the instant pot! The burn signal kept going off so I just decided to boil it down. It turned more glutinous then how it is usually but the kids still enjoyed it.

I had pulled tri-tip steak out of the freezer the other day so I prepped that up and put it in the smoker for 2 hours then put it in the suvee for six hours. When it was done we put it on the grill for 3 minutes on each side to crisp it up a bit! By the time it was ready to eat it was so tender and flavorful. I do not think I would make or any other way.

When the meat was put into the suvee we all went to the Red rocks for some hiking.

In the background there looks to be a lake but it is not! What you see are solar panels. To the right of the solar panels are the power lines.
No idea if this tree was dead but it looked sort of like a bonsai tree to me! There is a Joshua tree in the background I thought gave this picture more character!
A different angle of the bonsai looking tree! It just caught my eye headed back down the path.
A bit closer to it.
Joshua tree!
A Joshua Tree! They are protected here in California! I made sure they did not touch it and or climb.
I thought this cactus 🌵 was interesting! It is a Wiggins cholla https://api-java.picturethisai.com/web/general_download?language_code=0
Baby Joshua tree!

Joshua trees are protected because they are important to the Mojave desert ecosystem. They slow growing and take 50 to 60 years to mature. They are part of the yucca plant family. If you would like to know more about the Joshua tree check out the link below.

Heading back to the van to go to the other side of red rocks!
The minerals took the formation of a sting ray. So my girls observed.
According to the girls this is the brains foot.
Man I am glad they are adventurous! We love to climb!
Standing on the camels back!
This cliff formation looks like an eagle taking flight!
The nooks and crannies are interesting
I felt like I was on top of the world 🌎 being so high. I misstepped on the way down and slipped a little on my side luckily I did not go to far. Although I was trembling the rest if the way and needed my husband to guide the rest of the way.
My husband took this shot of me being brave and standing on top of the cliff. I was somehow able to get up there without falling.
We call this brains. It looks like the formation the brain has!
Another angle of the brain 🧠

Some of the pictures are the same but I hope there is a little difference to them. Thank you all for stopping by! I hope the week goes well for you.
