Today we discussed measuring and following a recipe! This is my first time I have made ketchup so I did most of the work. We chopped onions, vine, and cherry tomatoes put them in the instant pot together to stew.
The above link is the recipe I followed. Well I followed to a point. This recipe called for plum or paste tomatoes the store I went to only had vine and cherry so those are the ones I used. I also did not add the celery seasoning.

This process took way longer then expected. We had to stop reducing so we could go grocery shopping and I was going to finish reducing it on Saturday.
My son had different plans though and dumped it down the sink to wash the pot! He was in a bad mood because I had help do up the dishes all day to help. I understood this and said that I was very appreciative of his help and him doing the dishes for me. I also apologized in case I forgot to say it through the day while he was helping.
I was so angry though our hard work literally went down the drain. Not to mention all that money that I used to buy 12lbs of tomatoes just to be thrown in the sewer and not even be tasted. Anyhow he is 13 and I remember not doing the right thing all the time growing up so I gave him grace and understanding instead.
I really wanted to ground him or give him more to do. Alas I put my hands in my face and took some deep breaths and didn’t say anything until I was ready. I knew if I spoke immediately I would have been cussing and said things I would have regretted but I have been working on not reacting and staying calm.
I well be buying canned tomatoes the next time.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thank you for stopping by to read or look at the pictures. Have a great day.
But It’s was so sweet to see your kids making it!
