Art

So it has been a few years now since I started to encourage my son to create art that was not robots/androids. Don’t get me wrong those drawings are amazing. My thought process was to enhance his capabilities.. if he were to practice drawing different things he would become that much more detailed with what he loves to create. This thought process could be wrong, but as a mom who is awed that he can draw the way can and also trying to divert his attention to other things to draw has been an uphill battle. It took me a couple years to let it go and realize he will come around to it on his own.

He has actually done a few different drawings other than the androids, but I would literally have to hoover over him. It took this year and a drawing art class for him to be more willing to sketch something other then Robotics.

The Campground we are currently at he made friends with a grandma here and she loves humming birds. All on his own one night this week he climbed into bed and started to draw. It took everything in me not to tell him to come down and do it where everyone is (he likes to constantly be away from everyone). Making sure he feels like part of the family has been a long drawn out process. I am glad to say that he is more willing now than he was last year or even when he was six. This is where assuming on my part has slowed down.

Suddenly while I was washing the prep dishes that I used he showed me what he was working on. Below is his interpretation of a humming bird. It is not complete yet but he drew this from his memory of observing the creature.

Lucas’s Hummingbird!

Thank you for taking the time to read my post! I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Where to begin! I am first a mom of three; one boy and two girls. We travel around the US with my husband and homeschool on the road! last year I learned to make homemade soap and sell it for a small income.
