So today I did not run or do any type of yoga (should have though) I woke up at 5:30 am but I did not get a restful sleep. Unsure as to why but I can only guess that it may have been due to the fact that I stayed up past my bedtime watching a movie “Knives Out”. Or it may have been my youngest daughter waking me up crying about something (possible bad dream). Either way the night of my week 1 day 3 run was not very restful.
Waking up early has it’s benefits though 1) benefit is the peace and solitude at the beginning of the day 2) it just helps me prepare mentally for when the rug rats wake up. My youngest gave about an hour on my own before she came and told me that I was supposed to be in bed cuddling her not in the livingroom all by myself. She cracks me up. We stated writing in her journal you know the basics birthday the day of the week the month and year (something like this today is Tuesday August 24, 2021). Her full name and what state she wants to visit. Her answer was Hawaii so she can see the volcano erupt and the lava flow. So we were able to get science done. We read about what lava was and why volcanoes erupt and that there are three different types of volcanoes.
Afterwards I made the kids peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches for breakfast. I just did not want to go out and fire up the burner to cook anything. Man oh man the air is thick down here. The girls worked on memorizing their addition facts again today. I believe that they are getting an understanding of adding 1 to each number now. We will continue through the week to see how they progress though.
For the middle girl she wrote her verse but this time I told her not to worry about copying it she just needed to read the verse outloud then trace it! She got done way quicker then she did yesterday and Friday so glad that I figured out the issue. Afterwards we read a natgeokids magazine and learned that a sneeze can come out of a person’s mouth up to 100mph. They got a kick out of that. I so reccomended going to natgeokids.com and just have fun taking the little quizzes they have. When that was complete we opened up our maps book and studied China. Then the girls and their father went to Mississippi Aquarium again and arrived just in time to the dolphin training!
My son i have mentioned participated in some of what the girls were learning but he is a bit older and has different lesson he needs to learn. At the moment he is doing long division and I am not very good at teaching him how to do it. So YouTube is our friend at the moment. Luckily he is able to understand how to do it through video instruction and when he isn’t able or he forgets I have him get help from his father who fortunately is amazing with math. The other day though I decided to sit down with him to go over his work but I had him sit with me and walk me through what he did. I actually had to redo the problem because non of the work was lined up and it was confusing. The good news is that he was able to help do the math and he figured out for himself that a couple of the answer he got were wrong.
Feeling blessed at this time to be able to teach and learn with my children.
