River walk

We went on a nature walk today. The trail started at the territorial prison in Yuma, Arizona alongside the Colorado river. My daughters decided to bring their binoculars (which they received as gifts for Christmas) along to spy on the animals. During this walk, we also worked on some math dealing with percentages.

As we walked we discussed how to work out 75% of 360. My son kept saying 2,700 is the answer he had a hard time doing the math mentally ( or I should say it is hard to place the decimal properly when you cannot visually see where it should go) which is fine. I then had him get a stick out and draw out the math problem in the dirt. Luckily he was able to work the math out to be 270.00. Math finally complete we were able to enjoy and observe the wild birds and animals

The kids discovered wild rabbits, ducks, and what might be grouse or quail. I looked it up on google but I am still unsure what type of bird it is.

Look, mom I see ducks on the bank of the river
Ducks
Fall colors are still here in Arizona
My phone did not fully capture the beauty

Grouse or quail? I think these guys are grouse but looking them up on google they look more like quail.

I hope you are had a wonderful week. Thank you for taking the time to read or just look at the pictures. Feel free to like or comment below.
